The Klein Tafelberg 4×4 trail is a must-try for adventure lovers. This scenic, circular route spans 12–20 km and combines sandy tracks with rocky obstacles, offering a challenge for every skill level. Along the way, you can stop at the off-grid campsite on top of the mountain for a picnic and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Sandveld.

 

Trail Options

 

We have two routes to suit your experience:

  1. Normal Route – sand and rock obstacles, graded 3 to 4.
  2. Advanced Route – mostly rock, graded 5, including the Adoons rock sections for experienced drivers.

Take on the trail on your own or enjoy a guided adventure. The guided route varies from 12–20 km depending on which sections are driven and is perfect for experiencing the trail safely while taking in all the views.

 

Practical Info


The site is only accessible by 4×4 vehicles. We recommend tyres at 0.8 bar and our on-site air compressor is available for use. If you arrive in a 2×4, arrange a lift with a friend who has a 4×4. Designated parking for 2x4 vehicle is available at the start of the hiking trail to enable you to stop before reaching camp and reception.
